As you will be aware both from my email yesterday and Boris’ announcement yesterday we are now moving to remote learning for most children in our federation and as such from tomorrow your child will be able to access learning via Purple Mash (or Tapestry for children in reception years).
Children in EYFS and Year One are encouraged to read with an adult and suggested activities for home learning are to be found on Tapestry for EYFS (Oak) and Purple Mash for Year One.
Expectations for children in Year 2 and above are (‘Must do’ tasks):
- Daily Reading (as much and as often as you like!)
- Daily English related activity (Purple Mash)
- Daily Maths related activity (Mathletics and/or Purple Mash)
We have suggested a ‘little and often’ approach recommending 3 – 5 short bursts throughout the day depending on your child and home circumstances. We advise:
EYFS/Year One : 3 – 5 short bursts of 5 – 20 minutes
Year Two : 3 – 5 short bursts of 10 – 20 mins
Year Three and Year Four: 3 – 5 slots of 10 – 25 mins
Year Five and Year Six: 3 – 5 slots of 20 – 35 mins
The full remote learning policy is available below. If you are unable to access technology for home learning, please do contact us via the school office.
In our current circumstances teachers will sometimes be in school supporting our in-school provision and our school policy is that teachers will be monitoring and feeding back to pupils at least three times each week. If your child is not engaging with our remote learning over a week then school will contact you to offer support and advice.
We are also currently exploring ways of keeping in touch with families beyond Purple Mash with phone calls or group video calls. As soon as we can we will be in touch to share more information about how we will be supporting families with children working at home.
In the meantime if you require support please do contact the school via the school office – ideally by email on bursar@pitsford.northants-ecl.gov.uk and we will respond to you as soon as we can.
Thank you so much for your continued support, we will be in touch.
